Privacy policy
This English version is provided for convenience. In case of doubt, the German version shall prevail.
1. Privacy at a glance
General information
The following information provides a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit this website or contact us. Personal data is any data that can be used to identify you personally. Detailed information can be found in the sections below.
Who is responsible for data collection on this website?
Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find the operator's contact details in the section “Information about the controller” in this privacy policy.
How do we collect your data?
On the one hand, we receive data that you provide to us yourself, for example when you send us an e-mail or call us. On the other hand, technical data is collected automatically by our host's servers when you visit the website (e.g. IP address, web browser, operating system or time of the page request).
What do we use your data for?
The technical data is collected to provide the website securely and without errors. We use data that you provide to us to handle your request. This website does not use cookies or any analytics or tracking tools; your user behaviour is not analysed.
What rights do you have regarding your data?
You have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about the origin, recipients and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to request the rectification or erasure of this data and, under certain circumstances, the restriction of processing, to object to processing and to have your data transferred. If you have given your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
You can contact us at any time about this and any other questions on the subject of data protection.
2. Hosting
We host the content of this website and our e-mail mailboxes with the following provider:
DSI GmbH Daten Service Informationssysteme
Carolinenstraße 1
01097 Dresden
Germany
Personal data arising from visits to this website or from e-mails sent to us is stored on the host's servers in Germany. This includes in particular IP addresses, access data (see “Server log files”) and the content and metadata of e-mails.
We use the host in the interest of a secure, fast and reliable provision of our online services and our e-mail communication by a professional provider (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3. General information and mandatory information
Data protection
We take the protection of your personal data very seriously and treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.
Please note that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
Information about the controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is:
Mediainstall GmbH
Hauptstraße 20
61440 Oberursel
Germany
Represented by the managing directors Michael Beus and Dirk Saloch
Phone: +49 (0) 6172 981989-0
E-mail: info@mediainstall.de
The controller is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data (e.g. names, e-mail addresses, etc.).
Storage period
Unless a more specific storage period is stated in this privacy policy, your personal data will remain with us until the purpose for processing no longer applies. If you assert a justified request for erasure or withdraw your consent, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible reasons for storing it (e.g. retention periods under tax or commercial law); in this case, the data will be deleted once these reasons no longer apply.
Legal bases for data processing
We process personal data on the following legal bases of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR if you have consented to the processing,
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract or for pre-contractual measures,
- Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR if the processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation,
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR if the processing is necessary to protect our legitimate interests and your interests do not override them.
The legal basis applicable in each case is stated in the following sections. This website does not store any information on your device or access information stored there; consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) is therefore not required.
Recipients of personal data
We only pass on personal data to external bodies if this is necessary for the performance of a contract, if we are legally obliged to do so (e.g. disclosure of data to tax authorities), if we have a legitimate interest in the disclosure pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR or if another legal basis permits the disclosure. Our host in particular is a recipient (see section 2).
No transfer to third countries
Your personal data is not transferred to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.
No automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
Withdrawal of your consent to data processing
Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the withdrawal remains unaffected.
Right to object to data collection in special cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)
If data processing is based on Art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. If you object, we will no longer process your personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (objection pursuant to Art. 21(1) GDPR).
If your personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for such marketing; this also applies to profiling to the extent that it is related to such direct marketing. If you object, your personal data will subsequently no longer be used for direct marketing purposes (objection pursuant to Art. 21(2) GDPR).
Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority
In the event of violations of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged violation (Art. 77 GDPR). This right exists without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies. The supervisory authority responsible for us is:
Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
Gustav-Stresemann-Ring 1
65189 Wiesbaden
Germany
Right of access, rectification and erasure
Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing (Art. 15 GDPR) and, if applicable, a right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) or erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) of this data.
Right to restriction of processing
You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data (Art. 18 GDPR). This right exists in particular in the following cases:
- You dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored by us. You can request the restriction of processing for the duration of our review.
- The processing of your personal data is or was unlawful and you request the restriction of processing instead of erasure.
- We no longer need your personal data, but you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- You have lodged an objection pursuant to Art. 21(1) GDPR and it has not yet been determined whether our interests or yours prevail.
If processing has been restricted, this data may – apart from its storage – only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a member state.
Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR). If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only take place insofar as it is technically feasible.
SSL or TLS encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser begins with “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser line. When encryption is activated, the data you transmit when accessing the website cannot be read by third parties.
Objection to advertising e-mails
We hereby object to the use of the contact data published as part of the legal notice obligation for sending unsolicited advertising and information material. We expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited advertising information being sent, for example by spam e-mails.
4. Data collection on this website
No cookies, no tracking
This website does not set cookies, does not use comparable storage techniques (e.g. local storage) and does not include any analytics, tracking or advertising services. No content is loaded from third-party servers; all files (including fonts and images) are delivered by our host.
Server log files
Each time this website is accessed, our host's server automatically stores information transmitted by your browser in so-called server log files. This is:
- IP address of the requesting device,
- date and time of access,
- name and URL of the requested file,
- amount of data transferred and notification of whether the request was successful (HTTP status code),
- website from which access was made (referrer URL),
- browser and browser version used as well as the operating system.
This data is not merged with other data sources, and we do not analyse it to evaluate your user behaviour. The data is collected on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the technically error-free delivery as well as the security and stability of the website, for example to detect and defend against attacks. The log files are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for these purposes, unless a specific security incident requires longer retention for evidence purposes.
Enquiries by e-mail, telephone or fax
This website does not contain a contact form. If you contact us by e-mail, telephone or fax, we store and process your enquiry including the personal data provided (e.g. name, contact details, content of the enquiry) in order to handle your request. We will not pass on this data without your consent. Providing your data is voluntary; however, without it we cannot process your enquiry.
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective handling of enquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your data will remain with us until you ask us to delete it or the purpose for storing it no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods under commercial and tax law – remain unaffected.
Applications by e-mail
If you send us an application to bewerbung@mediainstall.de, we process the data it contains (e.g. contact details, cover letter, CV, references) exclusively for the purpose of carrying out the application process. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (initiation of an employment relationship). Within our company, your data is only passed on to persons involved in the application process.
If you are hired, the data will be transferred to your personnel file for the purpose of the employment relationship. Otherwise, it will be deleted after the application process has been completed, unless further retention is necessary to defend against possible legal claims, for example under the German General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), or you have consented to longer storage (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
5. Fonts
This website uses the “Poppins” font. The font files are stored on our host's server and delivered from there. No connection to third-party servers, in particular not to Google, is established when the page is loaded.
6. Links to other websites
This website contains links to websites of other providers, for example to Google Maps (directions) or to AV-Solution Partner. Only when you click on such a link is the respective website opened in a new tab and your browser establishes a connection to its servers. The respective provider is responsible for the data processing there; its privacy policy applies.
